2. Select Text to Transcribe
3. Click Transcribe Selection

Open DocReader Sidebar

In your Google Doc, click the Add-ons (puzzle piece) icon and select DocReader. Click Open App in the sidebar to access the full interface.

Select Text to Transcribe

In your Google Doc, use your cursor to highlight the specific text, paragraph, or section you want to convert to speech. This allows you to focus on specific parts of your document without processing the entire content.

Click Transcribe Selection

With your text selected, click the Transcribe Selection button in the DocReader sidebar. This tells DocReader to convert only the highlighted text into audio.

Configure Voice Settings

Before generating, configure your settings: choose the language (supports 75+ languages), select voice type (male/female, different accents), and adjust speed if available. These settings control how your text will sound when read aloud.

Generate and Listen

Click Generate to process your selected text. DocReader will convert the text to natural-sounding speech. Once complete, you can listen to the audio directly in the sidebar or download it as an audio file for offline use or sharing.

• Transcribe Selection is perfect for reviewing specific sections, quotes, or difficult paragraphs.
• Use clear, well-formatted text for best pronunciation and natural-sounding results.
• Test different voice options to find the one that sounds most natural for your content.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

• Don't forget to actually select text before clicking Transcribe Selection - nothing will be processed without a selection.
• Avoid selecting extremely long passages if you need quick results - break them into smaller sections.
• Remember that special characters and formatting may affect pronunciation.
